Anita Kainrath is an award winning underwater photographer and graphic designer, currently based in Vienna, Austria.

Growing up in landlocked Vienna, Austria, far away from the Ocean Anita has found her passion in underwater photography when she moved to The Bahamas in 2013.

As a working professional in the diving industry she found a way to be underwater as much as she can while sharing her passion for the Ocean with others. Being underwater more than on land during 7 years living in The Bahamas she can’t imagine a life without the Ocean anymore.

Her love for art and storytelling has brought her back to Vienna where she recently earned her degree in graphic design. Her plan is to combine her two passions and use her creative gift as a voice for the Ocean.

“If people don’t know things exist they cannot feel the urge to protect it.”
  • Up&Coming Underwater photographer of the Year 2020
  • 1st place of the UW Global Championship World Shootout 2020
  • Runner up Mangrove Photography Awards 2020
  • Highly commended UPY 2021
  • One of the 11 finalists for the saveourseasfoundation Ocean Storytelling Photography Grant 2021
‚For someone who is still relatively early in her underwater photographer career Anita is a very worthy finalist who I think is going to go very far. I envisage her becoming a powerful voice for marine conservation.
